Here’s a quick look at how to rebuild a staircase in your home if its either wobbly, old, or not up to code.
These stairs were built in 1950 and had begun to sink into the concret and rot. We came in and rebuilt them from the ground up with new 2×12 stringers and 2×10 treads.
Old stairs that were barely holding on and were molding.
After the tear out we built new stringers out of 2×12 and screwed them to every stud down the run of the stringers.
Then we cut out treads and risers and glued and screwed then into place to make sure they would never come apart.
Here was our result new stairs widened for bigger steps and a 1,000 times more stable
