Full walkthrough of a whole home remodel
This home is located on a beautiful acreage just outside of Lincoln Nebraska, part of the farm that has been in the family for many generations. This home had good bones but was in need of an update both inside and out. Several rooms were reconfigured to better suit their needs including adding an enclosed sunroom on the back of the home and a front porch to enjoy the views of the picturesque Nebraska landscape.
Exterior Remodeling Work Done
The home’s exterior siding was beginning to fade and fall apart so it was entirely removed and new stone veneer was installed on the beltway of the home and LP Smartside Spanish moss was installed. The old windows seals were completely shot so all of the windows were upgraded as well to triple glazed Gerkin vinyl casement windows. Other exterior upgrades include new roofing with Class 4 impact shingles by Malarkey Roofing Products (Color – Midnight Black) and new gutters, soffits, and fascia by Rolex.
Sunroom Addition
In the sunroom, reclaimed barn wood from a 100-year-old family barn was installed on the ceiling to give an accent to the vaulted ceiling and make the space cozy and comfortable year-round. A transom window in the peak of the end wall allows more light and views of the tops of the large trees.
Kitchen Remodel
Removing a wall between the kitchen and the great room made it possible to enlarge the kitchen and open it up to the great room. The shaker style kitchen cabinets were painted in Sherwin Williams Pure white ( SW 7005) and the island cabinets in dark grey (SW 7017 Dorian Gray 200%). Zodiaq quartz countertops in Coarse Carrara and Concrete Carrara tied them together.
A Blanco double sink in cinder and a Moen Arbor Faucet were inserted into the countertop. The light gray 3×5 subway tile backsplash was accented with a linear mosaic of blacks, stainless metallic and gray. Jenn-Air stainless appliances were installed including an induction cooktop. Instead of a free-standing china hutch, we incorporated it into the rest of the cabinets but added glass inserts in the doors of the upper cabinets.
Great Room Remodel
From the kitchen, there is a great view of the Heat-n-Glo fireplace stoned in Alpine Ledgestone (Color – Echo Ridge) and flanked by floating reclaimed barn wood shelves and lower cabinets painted in the same gray as the kitchen island.
Cambridge Amber Oak Pergo flooring and walls painted in Repose gray (SW 7015) were used throughout the house to unite the open floor concept. The flooring was sorted to give a continues plank flooring look throughout the house. The vents for the central air were cut and fit to be flush with the floor to yet again add to the seamless flow of the home.
Master Bedroom Remodel
In the master bedroom, we completely reconfigured the room by removing an exterior door that was never used and added two windows and a transom window. The transom added a framed look around where the bed was to be placed. This allows for extra light to be let it in without sacrificing privacy.
Master Bathroom Remodel
In the master bath, the massive jacuzzi was removed as it was rarely used and the tiny shower was expanded into a walk-in tile shower. The tile was laid vertically with a tile inset and Corian shelves. A Kohler Hydrorail was installed with a Hansgrohe rain head and handheld wand. The Kohler Hydrorail can make any shower into a rain shower without tearing into the shower wall by simply attaching it to the existing shower arm.
The shaker style vanity was painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White ( SW 7005) and topped with a Zodiaq Storm Grey countertop and Delta Trinsic faucet.
Bathroom Remodel
The hall bathroom had room for an extra-long bathtub so we installed a Kohler Archer tub and a Bestbath shower surround. The Bestbath shower surround enables you to put in grab bars anywhere they are needed in the future. Having the option to insert any tile of your choice allows you to personalize the shower surround.
The vanity was stained to match the Pergo floor in the hallway and countertop was Caesarstone Woodland. The faucet was a Grohe Agira that matches the shower valve.
