Meet Our Family
the Carlson Projects story
Greg and Shawn Carlson started Carlson Projects in a very interesting time in their lives. In 1992, they decided it would be good to start a business, build a house, and have their second child. Being in the construction business requires two things: being slightly crazy and having a desire to serve people. They have a bit of both…
“Our hope is to leave a legacy of craftsmanship in everything we do and raise the standard of construction in every aspect.”
Greg has always been the jack of all trades. At his previous job, he was always known as the guy you send out when something is wrong, no one knows how to fix it and the client is upset. He thrives in that setting. When presented with a problem, he’ll not only fix it but will care enough to walk through the problem with you so you know how to prevent it in the future.
Greg’s passion for solving problems and loving a challenge is what propelled him into starting his own business.
Carlson Projects started small, primarily working on residential tile, slate, and wood shingle roofs. Greg built a reputation of being the go-to expert for problem roofs. After building trust and a reputation of quality work, he’d get asked to do interior work such as kitchens, additions, and other remodeling projects. With a little prior knowledge from previous jobs, in 1995, Carlson Projects became a year-round business; remodeling in winter and roofing in summer.
Fast-forward to 2011, Greg brought his youngest son, Stefan into the business. They started slow so Stefan could learn all aspects of the business and dust off his childhood tool belt, working on roofs and a few remodels here and there. After gaining more confidence and learning the tricks of the trade, Stefan decided to take on more of the remodeling side of the business and pursue it year-round. Stefan’s primary focus has been on building the same reputation his dad built in roofing. That, coupled with Shawn’s keen eye for design and love for research, the two became a mother-son remodeling dream team.
Carlson Projects began with the desire to serve clients and solve problems – and that was as much of a business plan that Greg needed.
The hope of Carlson Projects is to leave a legacy of craftsmanship in everything we do and raise the standard of construction in every aspect. We hope as our family grows, you will grow with us. We can’t wait to see what challenges and problems we can solve with you.
